Republic of Letters is an initiative of academic publishing veterans, with decades of experience in publishing houses like Martinus Nijhoff, Kluwer Academic Publishers and Elsevier. Although happy to work under the constraints of the market, we feel that we can do a better job independently than in a corporate environment. Please look for our policy section for additional information.

At the start of 2009 RoL Publishing took over a number of book series from Brill. Books published prior to January 2009 will continue to be sold by Brill until the end of 2010. Prices and conditions of sale are determined by Brill.
